Swedish-Indian artist Ishaaq grew up in Norrköping, an industrial city in Sweden, but also has roots and family in a deeply religious area in Tamil Nadu, India. Ishaaq’s music stems from this mixed heritage, and is a mixture of oriental harmonies, folk music and western pop. The music is a hybrid of old and new elements, like tablas and beats, resulting in a special psychedelic groove, with melodies. Another special component here is the Swedish lyrics and the usage of language - realistic, raw and playful.
